I Haven't Forgotten...

I haven't forgotten about my blog...nope. Just been BUSY! :) Here is a quick little update on things lately...

Still training for the 1/2 marathon...going good, but wishing the weather was even warmer so I could run a little stronger!

Currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets...only a few chapters in and already even better than the first...and I hear they just get better with every book!! Yay!

The weekend was a little crazy...my grandpa on my dad's side had a heart attack...it was mild and they put a stint in. He is doing ok, but not out of the woods yet. Please keep him in your prayers. It has been determined that the cause was almost ENTIRELY stress induced...

So, that is all for now...sorry for the short post! Another busy day and I am trying to squeeze this in on my lunch break :) Now, off to read my Bible, then back to work!

One Book Down! 11 More To Go!

So, my book choice for January was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone...I was pretty unsure of it at first, but wanted to give it a try. Hey, I did the same for the Twilight series and that worked out pretty well for me ;) I read the book fairly quickly, although it was difficult as I have to read certain passages from the Bible as well (supposed to be reading it every day to have it read in a year!). I tried to divide my time up throughout the day...reading my Bible at lunch and HP at night before bed. So far, so good as I am pretty much caught up on my Bible readings and was able to finish HP by the end of January...it was a slow start!
Much to my surprise, I loved the book! It was so cute and fun...I love all of the desciptive language. I could actually picture Hogwarts (and no, I have not seen the movie!). Also, even though I had an idea of what Harry, Ron, and Hermione all "should" look like from the movie...they looked totally different in my head while I was reading the book which I thought was shocking, but goes to show that J.K. Rowling is great a tdescribing her characters. I loved each character and have to say that my favorite so far is Hagrid, the gamekeeper for Hogwarts. He actually was kicked out of the school when he was younger and never allowed to learn all that a wizard needs to know...so he is kind of a silly character. Loved him!
Overall, the book was really enjoyable and I am hoping to soon get my hands on the second one!
