I Haven't Forgotten...

I haven't forgotten about my blog...nope. Just been BUSY! :) Here is a quick little update on things lately...

Still training for the 1/2 marathon...going good, but wishing the weather was even warmer so I could run a little stronger!

Currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets...only a few chapters in and already even better than the first...and I hear they just get better with every book!! Yay!

The weekend was a little crazy...my grandpa on my dad's side had a heart attack...it was mild and they put a stint in. He is doing ok, but not out of the woods yet. Please keep him in your prayers. It has been determined that the cause was almost ENTIRELY stress induced...

So, that is all for now...sorry for the short post! Another busy day and I am trying to squeeze this in on my lunch break :) Now, off to read my Bible, then back to work!

One Book Down! 11 More To Go!

So, my book choice for January was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone...I was pretty unsure of it at first, but wanted to give it a try. Hey, I did the same for the Twilight series and that worked out pretty well for me ;) I read the book fairly quickly, although it was difficult as I have to read certain passages from the Bible as well (supposed to be reading it every day to have it read in a year!). I tried to divide my time up throughout the day...reading my Bible at lunch and HP at night before bed. So far, so good as I am pretty much caught up on my Bible readings and was able to finish HP by the end of January...it was a slow start!
Much to my surprise, I loved the book! It was so cute and fun...I love all of the desciptive language. I could actually picture Hogwarts (and no, I have not seen the movie!). Also, even though I had an idea of what Harry, Ron, and Hermione all "should" look like from the movie...they looked totally different in my head while I was reading the book which I thought was shocking, but goes to show that J.K. Rowling is great a tdescribing her characters. I loved each character and have to say that my favorite so far is Hagrid, the gamekeeper for Hogwarts. He actually was kicked out of the school when he was younger and never allowed to learn all that a wizard needs to know...so he is kind of a silly character. Loved him!
Overall, the book was really enjoyable and I am hoping to soon get my hands on the second one!

Just Had To Say...

My five miler felt GOOD. So did the hot bath w/ sea salt after the five miler. :)

That's Oklahoma For Ya!

So, yesterday was mostly sunny...and in the 50s. Absolutely gorgeous! Today is a totally different story...20s and sleeting! The roads have been a mess since this morning and will more than likely be a mess through the day tomorrow as well. I have been working from home all day...which is much harder then it seems! I have to get used to my dad's laptop: brand new and so nice, but set up completely different than my work computer...took twice as long to do a report that I normally turn out pretty quickly!
I am all caught up on my Bible readings for the week...and need to finish Harry Potter-I am halfway through and plan on picking it up after my five miler on the treadmill tonight! Can't wait!
So, there it is-my second post for the week :) I'm getting better at this thing ;)

A New Week...

So it is a new week and I have 6 days left in this month to make sure I finish reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in order to complete my goal of reading one book each month this year. I am definitely enjoying the book more than I thought I would...it is a quick, fun read.

My training last night was totally derailed...only ran a mile when I should have ran four...But, I am planning on cross-training tonight and doing plenty of stretching so that I can possibly add a mile and a half to my 5 mile run tomorrow! I need to make sure that I am plenty hydrated and don't eat junk right before the run (which contributed to my poor run last night...that and a headache!).

Hopefully, by my next post this week, I will have finished reading HP and can give a little review on it...

Hope everyone has a great week!

This Week...

Let me first start off with saying that KFC Famous Bowls are the most delicious food EVER. Yes, I am in love with them. So good!
K, now on to the reason for this post...I have realized that my goal of trying to post twice a week, every week has really fallen by the wayside. I really need to get on track with my list of goals! There are so many and I am almost through January without having completed very many things. This week I will set out to identify 15 things I like about myself and make a list of 50 things that make me happy. I plan on posting them this week...but it may be Friday before I get to it, as today is Wednesday! I also am going to steal from Kelly's blog and make a list of 100 things people may not know about me or may find interesting-thanks, Kelly! Your blog was so interesting!!
Speaking of things on my to-do list...reading my Bible and training for the marathon have been going good...I do need to be more consistent with reading every day and not trying to play catch up from the day before, however. One goal is to read the Bible for 30 days without missing a day...I am thinking about making that my goal for March...
Running is going great...Shane and I have been identifying things that make it easier to run and make our runs more productive. I really think we are going to be able to do this! :)
So, that is all for today...and there will be another post before the week is up!

Trying To Keep Up!

It was another busy (but good) weekend...after a couple of days of being sick. Luckily I only had to take half a day off from work...I am hoping to not get sick again for awhile! It seems as though I have been sick since October!
So, Saturday Michelle and I went out to Club Rodeo...just the two of us...and had so much fun! We both wanted a fun girls' night and fun is what we had! We danced for two straight hours! I think the calories I burned there will make up for the 4 miles of my long run I was not able to get in due to being so sick (never try to run when you are sick just because you want to get training in...I swear it made it worse!) It was so much fun to get all dressed up and dance around like a maniac for a couple of hours!! Friday and Sunday, Shane and I hung out and ran some errands...Wal-Mart on Sunday night is NO fun! So busy!! But, at least we got enough food for dinners for the next couple of weeks of training...so much harder to pick out food for training! "Nope, too much sugar...nope, too much salt...nope, too much fat"...crazy. But we are hoping the healthy eating will pay off and give us the energy we need to make it through our runs :)
So, this will be a short post...as I don't have much to write about but am trying to stick to one of the items on my to-do list for 2010 (to blog twice a week, every week). Hopefully my next blog this week will be more interesting :)

Things To Check Off the List! (and Christmas, too!)

So, first things first...Over the Christmas break I was able to get a couple of things on my list done...mail out Christmas cards and re-organize my closet. Both were big tasks!! I tried to write a message in every card that was personalized...and that takes awhile when you are sending out 25 cards!! :) Also, I cleaned out my closet...this was a good thing. I found several items I had been looking for (namely, a scarf that I LOVE!) and some other things. The closet looks so much better than before! I can actually see everything in there now! So, two items down, 68 more to go!
Christmas was different this year...thanks to the first real Oklahoma blizzard I can recall, Christmas Eve at our house was canceled...this was so upsetting to me! Every year, that is the one day I look forward to the most...love that day more than anything! So, thanks, Oklahoma weather system for ruining that day with family. Travel the rest of the weekend was crazy, but we somehow managed...my car finally was dug out of the snow yesterday so I could make it to work today. Oh, how I love driving on ice...terrible at it! Scares me to death :) Also, Christmas Eve morning, Grandma Opal fell and broke her hip, wrist, and hit her head...time was spent in the ER...during the blizzard. So scary for our entire family! Luckily, she is doing OK today and had surgery to put a pin in her hip Saturday night. Pray that she continues to heal!
On a good note...I did get a beautiful 32" HD TV...flat panel...built in DVD...and a whole bunch more hook-ups that my brother was excited about that I will probably never use :) Love it! So much nicer than my little 13" TV with a built in VCR! Yup, you read it right...I still have/had a VHS tape player...mhm! Still watched movies on it, too!
Overall, Christmas was good...sad that we couldn't spend it with family as we would have liked and sad that Grandma took a tumble...but good that the whole family was generally safe and still made a Merry Christmas despite the rough weather! Hope everyone had a great holiday!
